Ginseng seeds are now available for fall 2023 planting!

Premium quality stratified American Ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) seeds hand picked in Central Wisconsin, USA.  Our ginseng seeds are stratified washed and floated to remove non-viable seeds.  Please note, not all seeds will be viable.  Expect about a 70%-80% rate of germination over the spring of 2024, depending on growing conditions.

These seeds have been stratified which is a process of burying the seeds in sand and allowing them to freeze during the winter.  This will allow the seeds to germinate once they are planted.  In order to keep the seeds viable, keep them cool and slightly moist in a bucket or other container and flip them daily to give them air until the time of planting.  Plant before the end of the 2023 planting season.

All of our products are locally produced in Central Wisconsin and shipped directly from our family owned farm.

Unfortunately I'm afraid the seeds might not grow. I had to leave town due to a death in the family. Seeds arrived while I was gone. Says to be removed ASAP from the bag. They were in the bag for at least a week. They were moist by the time I removed them. Time will tell I guess.

Hello Michael,
My condolences about your family member. Regarding the seeds, The condensation is okay. Ginseng seed needs to stay moist otherwise the shell cracks and the embryo dries out. Open the package and take a couple seeds and crack them open with a wire cutter. If they are white and damp, they will be fine. If they are milky and the seed appears to be soft(almost mushy), let me know. We'll see what we can do for you. You can give us a call (715) 737-9191 or send us an email (wisconsingrownginseng@mail.com)

Take care and be well,

Arrived quickly

Delivery was fast. I have planted these about 10 or 14 days ago. Waiting for germination.

Hello Sara,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. To clarify, stratified ginseng seed planted this year, will not germinate until next spring (2024).

Take care and be well,

Laurie, WGG

First year germination rate!

Ordered 800-1000 in the 2022 batch and planted soon after. Took me multiple days to prep the soil and plant while making minimal impact on the enviroment. Had some squirrel or chipmunk issues and immediately covered the area to keep from loss. I would say about 40% germination rate came up this year which is better then I expected.

Hello Christopher,
Happy to hear that you have had some luck with germination of our ginseng seed. Thank you for sharing your experience so far and good luck with the critter control.

Take care and be well,
Laurie, WGG

Late season seeds

I order ginseng seeds early this year and they were in good shape. I received a promotion for a sale on seeds a couple of weeks ago and I order some more and they were dried out and a decent number of them were just hallow husks.

Hello Nathan,
I am so sorry to hear that you received seed from us that was less than acceptable. When we take out our seed, we flip and water it daily to maintain moisture. Our seed came out at 96% viable this year. The other 4% is floated out.

Customer satisfaction is very important to us and I will process a full refund immediately.

Again, our sincere apologies that you were disappointed in your order.

Take care,
Andy and Laurie, WGG
